Charlene Mendes

Secretary & Volunteer Coordinator

Charlene was introduced to Food4Kids Toronto with a simple yet powerful question: “Do you want to ensure no child goes hungry this weekend?” That moment sparked a deep and lasting commitment to a cause that aligned perfectly with her values and upbringing. From attending her first Food Pack to purchasing flyer deals at the grocery stores, Charlene’s passion for fighting childhood hunger was how she started to make a small difference. Growing up in Scarborough, Charlene passed many of the schools on her daily route that are served by the Weekend to End Hunger Program. Today, those same schools are part of her commute to the office, serving as a daily reminder of the impact Food4Kids Toronto has on the community. Raised by parents who instilled the importance of sharing, helping, and giving, Charlene brings those values to every aspect of her volunteer work.

With a professional background in project management at Scotiabank focused on operational efficiency and technology upgrades, Charlene leverages her organizational and communication strengths to support Food4Kids Toronto’s mission. Her goal is to ensure every volunteer feels the same sense of purpose and connection she did from day one—filling each Food Bag not just with nourishment, but with hope and opportunity. Outside of her professional and volunteer roles, Charlene is a proud mom of two energetic children. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines of a soccer field or a baseball diamond, she brings the same enthusiasm and dedication to her family as she does to her community and Food4Kids Toronto.

Jason Beck

Director

Jason is a founding Board member of Food4kids Toronto. He is the proud father of two young boys.  He is the 4th generation to reside in East Toronto & Scarborough areas. He comes from an entrepreneurial background from within the manufacturing and communications industries. Jason has extensive experience in the management, control and oversight in the planning and deployment of High Tech Audio/ Visual video collaboration and control systems globally.

His passion for helping others was originally sparked by his Grandparents Betty and Gerry, who were not only substantial Donors representative of multiple charities for over 60 years, but also volunteered at the hospital for 27 years, and in addition, serving on the board of directors.

Jason’s passion expanded with having young children entering their school years along with many friends having young children, it became apparent that not all families are living as fortunate as others. Through this experience Jason has developed a passion to ensure no child goes hungry, and is committed and excited to be delivering on this mission into the future.
